Betano slot categories explained: fruit, wilds, jokers, jackpots and more

The Betano casino lobby sorts its games into categories with short labels. Some describe a theme, some a feature and some a mathematical property of the game. Knowing which is which helps you understand what you are choosing. This guide explains each label in turn and points out where a category name can mislead.

How the lobby is organised

When checked on 12 October 2026, betano.cz grouped its casino games into these categories: Popular slots, Roulette, High return, Fruit, Wilds, Joker, Jackpots and High volatility. On the Czech site the labels appear in Czech (Oblíbené sloty, Ruleta, Vysoká návratnost, Ovoce, Wilds, Joker, Jackpoty, Vysoká volatilita). The same game can sit in more than one category, because the labels describe different things.

Popular slotsPopularity with playersRules, RTP and volatility, as for any slot

Themes: fruit and joker slots

Roulette is the one category in this list that is not a slot. The result depends on where the ball lands on the wheel, and the house edge comes from the zero pocket: bets such as red or black pay even money, but the zero belongs to neither side. Versions with a single zero have a smaller edge than versions with two. Check which variant a table uses before you play.

Fruit slots borrow the look of classic machines: cherries, lemons, plums, bells and sevens. They often have a simple layout and fewer features, though modern versions can hide bonus rounds behind the retro look. Joker slots use the jester figure, sometimes purely as decoration and sometimes as a special symbol. The theme tells you about the style, not about your chances.

Features: what a wild does

A wild symbol stands in for other symbols to complete a winning line. Slots handle wilds in many different ways, which is why the rules screen is worth reading. Common variations include:

  • expanding wilds, which fill a whole reel when they land;
  • sticky wilds, which stay in place for several spins;
  • multiplier wilds, which increase the value of a win they are part of;
  • walking wilds, which move one position with each spin.

More wilds do not automatically mean a better game. A slot with frequent wilds may pay smaller amounts for each line, because the overall return is set by the game's mathematics as a whole.

Jackpots: fixed and progressive

A fixed jackpot is a set top prize that does not change. A progressive jackpot grows as players place bets and resets after someone wins it. Progressive jackpots can reach large sums, but the chance of hitting one on any given spin is very small, and part of every stake goes into the prize pool. Before playing a jackpot slot, check how the jackpot is triggered and whether the bet size affects eligibility.

High return and high volatility

These two categories describe the maths of a game rather than its look. Return, or RTP, is the share of all money staked that a slot pays back over a very large number of spins. An RTP of 96 %, used here only as an example, means that around 96 of every 100 units staked by all players come back as wins in the long run, and the rest is the house edge. Volatility describes how unevenly those wins arrive: low volatility means frequent small wins, high volatility means long dry spells and occasional larger wins.

Neither label predicts a single session. A high return game can still lose your whole budget in an evening, and a high volatility game is designed to have long losing streaks. Betano also shows lists of hot and cold games based on the last 24 hours, which are a different measure again; see Hot and cold games at Betano.

Providers and titles

Games in the lobby come from several studios. Providers seen in the offer include Amusnet, Tech4Bet, SYNOT, Endorphina, Novomatic, NetEnt and Play'n GO, and titles seen include The Story of Alexander, Sticky Tell, Monkey Slots, 7 Bonus Up, Power Stars, Gorilla Kingdom, Lord Merlin and The Lady of The Lake, and Ring of Odin. The selection changes, so treat this as a snapshot rather than a complete list. The Betano review gives a wider picture of the casino.
